English Language & Literature
Entry Requirements	5A*-C including English and Mathematics. You need to have at least Grade B in both GCSE English Language and GCSE English Literature. To succeed you also need to enjoy reading, enjoy thinking about language and be able to think analytically.
Assessment	Exam Board: AQA How many exams do I have to take? One exam at the end of Year 12: • Introduction to Language and Literature study, which involves two questions, one on the Anthology and one on Unseen texts. Other exams will be taken at the end of Year 13. Is there any coursework or controlled assessments? Yes: a comparative essay on two novels and a creative piece based on one of them.

English Literature
Entry Requirements	GCSE 5A*-C including English and Mathematics. You need to have at least Grade B in both GCSE English Language and GCSE English Literature. To succeed you also need to enjoy reading and already choose to spend time reading out of school time.
Assessment	Exam Board: AQA How many exams do I have to take? One at the end of Year 12: • Aspects of Narrative, which involves two questions, covering four texts in all. Other exams will be taken at the end of Year 13. Is there any coursework or controlled assessments? Yes: an analytical essay on one play and a creative piece based on another play.
