AS/A2 Physical Education
Entry Requirements
GCSE PE is an advantage but not essential. You do need a good background of GCSEs A to C, the ability to write well and to work hard. You also need to be quite good practically in at least two activities.
Course content
AS LEVEL:
Unit 1 (G451) - Anatomy and Physiology, Acquiring Movement Skills + Socio-cultural Studies Relating to Participation in Physical Activity.
Unit 2 (G452) - Practical 1, Practical 2 + Evaluation and Planning for the Improvement of Performance.
A2 LEVEL:
Unit 1 (G453) - Historical Studies in PE and Sport, Sports Psychology + Exercise and Sports Physiology.
Unit 2 (G454) - Practical 1 + Evaluation, Appreciation and Improvement of Performance.
Assessment (OCR)
AS LEVEL: Unit 1 (G451) - Externally assessed by a 2 hour, 3 question, 90 mark written paper (end of year 12). 60% weighting.
Unit 2 (G452) - Internally assessed, externally moderated, activity one 30 marks, activity two 30 marks, evaluation and improvement of performance 20 marks. 40% weighting.
A2 LEVEL:
Unit 1 (G453) - Externally assessed by a 2 hour 30 minute, 3 question, 105 mark written paper (end of year 13). 70% weighting.
Unit 2 (G454) - Internally assessed, externally moderated, activity one 40 marks, evaluation, appreciation and improvement of performance 20 marks. 30% weighting.
