Tuesday 26th January, 2nd & 9th February 2010 - G&T Rugby
Over the past three weeks 50 of the best rugby players have received expert rugby tuition from coaches at Earlston Rugby Club and RFU National coaches. This is an exciting new club link that has been developed. It is hoped that some of our boys will join Earlston Rugby Club. It also means that for winter matches we can use their flood light pitches.
Thursday 5th February 2010 - Y11 Football Team into Cov Semis
A great win for the year 11 football team this week with a 5-1 win at Whitley Abbey shooting us into the semi-final of the Coventry Cup. Christian Lynch was a hat trick hero for the second time this season, with Joe Anderson and James Corrigan also getting on the score sheet. A great team effort against a tough Whitley team. Bring on the semi-final!
Wednesday 4th February 2010 - King Henry's Relays
In very cold and wet conditions, Finham Park boys competed with the very best private schools in the Country at the King Henry's Annual Relays. Teams competing at Memorial park included the likes of Manchester, Millfield, Loughborough, Newcastle & Kent. Teams were made up of Six competitors each, all students aged 16 and under. Finham's team was Harry Lumb (Y9), Nawid Adylar (Y8), Ben Taylor (Y8), Greg Wright (Y9) & Jacob Rowan (Y8). This meant the Finham had the youngest team by far. Unfortunately due to Jack Murray pulling out at the last minute through illness we were not able to post an overall team position. The effort and dedication of these boys was amazing. Every one of them gave 110% effort. It is hoped that the team will keep on developing for another three years and then will hopefully be a match for the best.

Tuesday 10th November 2009 - Sports Hall Athletics - Finham are the Champions
We had a fantastic day today at the 'Year 7 & 8 Sportshall Athletics Championships' on Tuesday 10th November 2009 at Woodlands Sports College, organised by our Sports Partnership, in which 8 secondary schools (Finham Park, Coundon Court, Tile Hill Wood, Woodlands Sports College, Ullathorne, Westwood School, Bars Hill, Cardinal Newman) participated from West Coventry. The event was run by SSP staff and Yr 12 Sports Leaders from Finham Park School, who did a fantastic job in running the field events and managing the yr 7 & 8 teams. We had the following successes:
Yr 7 Girls achieved 1st place and Yr Boys achieved 2nd place, missed out on first place by 1 point!
Yr 8 Boys achieved 1st place and Yr 8 Girls achieved 2nd place, ironically, also missed out on first place by 1 point! This means that our yr 7 girls and yr 8 boys go through to the 'County Sportshall Athletics Championship' in March 2010.
Star Performers: Yr 7 - Bronte Tindall and Yr 8- Daisy Turnecliff.
Team Manager: Jo Jones

Well done Nisha! Good luck in your trials!
Saturday 14th November 2009 - England v Argentina at Twickenham
45 school rugby players from years 7-9 enjoyed a cold day at Twickenham watching their heroes play rugby. In a scrappy game England came out on top 16-9.What was just as exciting was the amount of paper aeroplanes thrown from all levels of the stadium. Each of the 80,000 seats had a piece of card to hold up at the start of the game, which soon were made into flying objects. The biggest cheer of the whole game was given to the paper aeroplane that went through the middle of the posts, which was a far better attempt than the ones Jonny Wilkinson had! The next trip will see students go back to Twickenham in the summer to an International 7s tournament.
Saturday 7th November 2009 - Year 9 Girls Netball Tournament
On a very early and extremely cold Saturday morning the Year 9 Tournament at Tile Hill Wood School took place. Finham were pooled against some tough schools but had a strong chance of getting through to play for the plate.
Finham started off strongly against Bluecoat winning the game with confidence reflecting the same standard from the game they won against them earlier on in the season, one game down, 3 more to go. Straight to the next game against Coundon Court and what a performance! Excellent teamwork from the centre court players and the shooting was on form. Adding the quality of play from the players to the immense amount of support from the families, winning the game was the icing on the cake. Two games completed and two won.
Without having time to breath, Finham were into their next game against King Henry's, a battle commenced and the fighting spirit from the girls was reflected in their netball. Outstanding play from all of the girls but Henry's just beat us with goals and won the match. The final game in our pool was against Cardinal Newman and the effect of the tournament had started to take its toll on all the players from one school to the next. An outstanding effort put in by the players from Finham, superb collaborative team play, excellent defence and brilliant work from the shooters but we couldn't quite maintain the lead, unfortunately we lost the game.
Player of the Tournament: Amber Dixon
Winner of the Plate: TBC

Wednesday 30th September 2009 - Year 9 football match v Coundon Court
Finham Park producing a commanding display to overcome a decent Coundon Court team 4-0 on Wednesday night. Finham were on the attack from the start with Greg Wright and Liam Dann looking dangerous up front. The midfield three of Jack Stubbs, Jack Murray and Brandon Forst were bossing the game, spraying passes wide to Shouker and Ole Bacon on the wings. Finham were creating chance after chance and finally Jack Stubbs made one count slotting past the Coundon keeper. Liam Dann added two accomplished finishes to make the score 3-0 at half time. Greg Wright the provider for all three goals proving difficult for the Coundon defence to handle. In the second half Finham took their foot off the gas a little but were never worried at the back with another excellent display by captain George Swain alongside Joe Howarth, Joe matthews and Jack Jarvis. With the final whistle moments away Greg Wright capped a good performance to slot in at the back post leaving the keeper with no chance.
The 4-0 win fully deserved and Finham look forward to taking on Westwood next week needing a win to secure a place in the league playoff semi finals.

Sunday 27th September 2009 - Netball Satellite Trials, Alan Higgs Centre
On Sunday, 7 girls from Finham Park School took part in the Netball Satellite trials at Alan Higgs. Rebecca Hyndman, Beth Mackey both in Year 9 and Daisy Turnecliff, Abi Black, Asha Jagatia, Hannah McGrory and Laura Neale all in Year 8 took part in a series of drills and netball games over 4 hours.
With parents and staff looking on anxiously all the girls worked extremely hard and were very impressive in their matches and did themselves and the school proud.
After a tense wait Becca, Beth, Daisy, Hannah and Laura were all successful in securing a place for the upcoming season and fully deserved their place in the squad. Although Asha and Abi were unsuccessful this year we are confident that they will return next year stronger and wiser from this experience and we are sure they will be successful in joining the other girls.
A massive congratulations goes out to all the girls...we are extremely proud of them all!
Wednesday 16th September 2009 - Laura Connelly, Sporting achievement
Laura was selected to represent England at the WUKF European Championships for Children, Cadets and Juniors, held from Friday 4th to Sunday 6th September in Constanta, Romania and competed in the Girls 11-12 Category. As you can imagine, we're so pleased with her performance, especially at this level!
Tuesday 15th September 2009 Cross country League Race 1 out of 4 - Finham Park
The First round of the Coventry Schools Cross Country League took part at Finham Park School. In very windy conditions Finahm Park produced some excellent results. In year 7 Lawrence Bint claimed 3rd in the boys race, whilst Bronte Tindall missed out on first by 2 seconds claiming 2nd in the girls race. In the year 8/9 boys race saw Jack Murray claim 2nd overall. The boys also packed well in the team race with 6 athletes inside the top 19. Early indications are that both the year 7 girls and the year 8/9 boys are in the lead of the team races. 2008 athletics sensation Ramnik Soar suffered with stitch for over half the race and finished back in 7th. Well done to all athletes.
