GCSE History gives you the opportunity to study four interesting and varied aspects of history:
American West, 1840-1895: An in-depth study of an exciting and important period of America's history.
History Around Us: The visible remains of the past can teach us as much about history as books. In this part of the course you will make your own personal study of two castles.
Modern World Study - Ireland: It is important for us all to understand the world in which we live. This module gives you the chance to look at a current world problem and develop your understanding of it.
Medicine through time: Why do things change? Why do they sometimes stay the same for centuries? How do people influence history? This module uses an interesting topic to help you.
How will my work be assessed?
25% of your marks for GCSE will be based on coursework. This means you have the chance to produce your best work without the pressure of examinations. Ample time in class and homework is given for coursework.
At the end of Year 11, there will be two examination papers, covering American West and Medicine. The work on Castles and Ireland is assessed through your coursework.
